GREEN KEY is an international eco-label awarded to tourism companies, which recognizes the company’s environmentally friendly and sustainable activities.
The Taevaskoja Tourism and Recreation Center was awarded the Green Key label on October 27, 2023.
Following the criteria and principles of the Green Key, we want to contribute to the reduction of environmental impacts – from the use of solar energy and waste sorting, to recycling and more economical energy consumption – with the aim of leaving behind the smallest possible footprint.
We implement environmentally friendly activities in our daily activities:
- We use water, heat and electricity sparingly
- We sort waste and try to reduce its generation
- We change bed linen and towels as needed
- We avoid the use of environmentally harmful or dangerous chemicals
- To reduce paper information materials, we use QR codes to share information
- We use nature-friendly materials
- Whenever possible, we reuse textiles and repair everyday consumables
- In catering, we prefer local, fresh ingredients
- We offer vegan and vegetarian menus
- We offer options for environmentally friendly transportation – train, bus, electric car charging, scooter rent
- We market the production of local entrepreneurs
- We participate in events supporting nature conservation
- We support the circular economy by donating old blankets/pillows/towels to shelters
- If possible, we buy furniture from secondhand stores and restore it to suit us
We will be grateful if you also contribute to a more economical use of natural resources:
- You use water sparingly when taking a shower and close the taps
- You turn off the lights when you leave the room
- You use the same towel the next day as well or ask for replacement info
- If possible, use our tap water as drinking water
- You keep clean and use a change of shoes when moving around the house
- You place hygiene waste in the appropriate bin in your room. Packaging, tare/glass and paper/cardboard and household waste in the waste sorters in the corridor for recycling
- You hand over used batteries or other hazardous waste to the hotel reception staff
- You enjoy the nature around us in a respectful and environmentally friendly way
